'Pokemon Sword and Shield' Guide: Farm EXP Candy, Hatching Shiny Pokemon, and Getting Evolution Stones

If you want to become the best Pokemon master in Pokemon Sword and Shield, it's okay to get some help and guidance when it comes to several things, such as farming EXP candy, knowing where to get evolution stones, and finding a foreign language Ditto—and we have this for you in this article.

Get More EXP Candy

Game Freak has brought the EXP Candy system to Pokemon Sword and Shield, and for those who have played Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee! And Pikachu!, they'll know how valuable EXP Candy is.

It basically gives a Pokemon some experience points, depending on how big the candy's size is.

EXP Candies that are XS has the least amount of experience points, while XL Candies can give them more—and, according to Polygon, they are more common than Rare Candy, so it's easier to get them and grind your Pokemon for battles.

The best way to get more of these EXP Candies is to run Max Raids, although you can get lucky and get some from NPCs around the Wild Area, in exchange for some Watts.

Where to Find More Evolution Stones

Meanwhile, Pokemon Sword and Shield have some new Pokemon that we have never seen before, and evolving them is easier said than done, as you would need certain kind of evolution stones for particular Pokemon types.

First of all, getting enough stones will make the work easier, and there is one area in the game wherein players have dubbed as the stone haven.

According to Dexerto, it's in the huge rock formation in the Wild Area, where behind every huge rock is an evolution stone of different types, from Leaf Stones to Shiny Stones, as they spawn at random.

To go there, start from the Hammerlocke Hills, then bike towards the right direction, and then cross Lake Outrage.

Of course, the type of stone you use to evolve a certain Pokemon can affect their evolution, most especially for Eevee, as a Leaf Stone can turn it into a Leafeon, while a Thunder Stone can turn it into Jolteon.

Just be careful with the stone you use if you want to evolve your Eevee into a particular Pokemon.

Getting a Foreign Language Ditto

But, what about Shiny Pokemon?

NintendoLife noted that having a foreign language Ditto, or merely a foreign Ditto, can increase your chances of hatching a Shiny Pokemon from an egg—so finding one can be really helpful in your journey to catching 'em all.

A foreign Ditto is any Ditto that came from any Pokemon Sword and Shield version played in a different language, to yours.

Basically, if a friend of yours from France is playing the game in French, and gives you a Ditto, the Pokemon will automatically be a foreign Ditto, and you can most likely get one by asking a friend.

Getting them from surprises Trades is also possible, or try using a secret link code by choosing "Link Trade" and then entering "4448," but do check if their Ditto is indeed a foreign one.

You can check by looking at the details of your Ditto, and seeing if there is a code on the upper right part of the screen.
