You Season 2 is landing on the streaming service on Boxing Day. With less than a month to go until the new season drops on Netflix, fans are blessed with a spine-chilling first official trailer featuring the fan-favorite anti-hero Joe Goldberg, who looks more menacing—and handsome—than ever.

Joe Goldberg Is Back

Well, hello there. If you loved the first season of this American psychological thriller, you would not want to miss the newest installment to this hit Netflix Original series.

In the trailer, we see the spooky-stalker-turned-serial-killer Joe Goldberg (portrayed by Penn Badgley) checking out his surroundings. Apparently, it's bye-bye New York for our creepy character—he's now in Los Angeles to lead a new life with a new identity. With Beck (‎Elizabeth Lail) out of the picture, our favorite stalker is on the hunt for a new target.

What Can We Expect From the New Season?

According to Student Problems, the new season is set to be "gorier, scarier and just outright creepier than ever."

By the looks of it, Joe is back with not just one but two love interests: Candace (portrayed by Ambyr Childers), an old flame who showed up at the season 1 finale, and Love Quinn (portrayed by Victoria Pedretti), our protagonist's new potential victim who he met at LA.

Judging by our lead character's tryst with women in the first season, it's safe to say that we can expect another gruesome bloodbath in the show. But things will not be totally the same.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Sera Gamble explained that Joe's relationship with Love will be far different from his relationship with Beck.

"It's not that simple love-at-first-sight [Joe] might've been looking for a couple of years ago," she said. "He's a different guy. He's been through more."

Sera dives deeper into the plotline, saying that the newcomer sees Joe as a "kindred spirit" who has experienced a great loss.

"The circumstances of his encounter with Love are very informed by what he went through with Beck," she added.

Speaking to ET Online, the former Gossip Girl superstar also talked about his character's relationship with Love:

"Joe was always trying to get Beck's attention, sort of almost against her own instincts and will, whereas Joe is trying to be better. And Love won't let him say 'no' to her, even though he's trying desperately," he said. "It's very different between Joe and Love than it was with Beck, and thank god, because you can't do that again. That would just be brutal. To me, that would be irresponsible if we did the same thing again."

The lead actor also explained what fans can expect from his creepy character in the sophomore season:

"This is a person who's unconsciously and sometimes consciously repeating patterns of abuse and trauma. Joe causes the viewer to reflect more on themselves and wonder, 'Why do I like this guy so much no matter what he does?' I feel like what I hear from a lot of people is, 'What is wrong with me?' They're not asking what's wrong with him and I like that. If a piece of art you're a part of can inspire that kind of reflection, that's interesting."

If Love suffers the same fate as Beck, we'll find out when the new season premieres on Dec. 26 (Thursday).
