Hideo Kojima Talks About Possibility of 'Death Stranding' Sequel, Hints Working on a Horror Game

Death Stranding is one of the biggest games of this year, even getting nominated for Game of the Year in The Game Awards—but are we going to get a sequel from Hideo Kojima and his company, Kojima Productions?

Working with Norman Reedus

According to an interview with Vulture, Kojima would want to work with Norman Reedus once again, the lead of Death Stranding and one of The Walking Dead stars—and perhaps on a Death Stranding sequel.

During the three years of working with the actor, they became great friends with Reedus inviting Kojima to their home for dinner, with the eccentric legend recalling how Reedus' cat walked into the room and puked, laughing as he recounted the tale.

Although perhaps the most interesting thing Kojima said was that if ever he would create a Death Stranding sequel, he "would start from zero," which could mean that if there were a sequel, it would be different from the first one.

Nonetheless, it almost seems far-fetched to get a sequel for Death Stranding, or at least it will take years before we can get another one, especially when the game has just been recently released.

A New Horror Game?

It may also be due to a new project Kojima Productions is working on.

Based on a report by ComicBook, it seems like Hideo Kojima is working on a new game—and a horror one at that.

It was after Kojima posted a tweet saying he watches "scary movies in order to awaken my horror soul," and that he revealed he watched a Thai horror movie entitled The Eye when he was working on P.T.

P.T. is a first-person psychological horror game and a "playable teaser" which only takes one to four hours for a player to finish, made by Kojima Productions in collaboration with Guillermo del Toro, one of Kojima's closest friends.

The horror game was short, but it was only meant to tease the next title for the Silent Hill franchise, as per ScreenRant.

It seems like Kojima is starting to watch horror films once again, and it could be because he is working on a new horror game.

While nothing is yet established and Kojima himself nor his studio has announced any new projects, anything from the game maker is set to bring his fans together to await what else he has up his sleeves.

Death Stranding Breaking Records

Death Stranding has some pretty good sales, especially in the UK, where it had the second-largest launch for PS4 in 2019, plus it also has the top launch sale in any new IP in Japan, according to reports.

Although first thought as a PS4 exclusive, the game will soon be launching on PC in 2020.

The game follows Norman Reedus' character, Sam Porter Bridges, as he delivers valuables all across post-apocalyptic USA in order to reconnect the nation.

The game has garnered mostly positive reviews from game critics, but it didn't sit well with some of the fans, with some saying they were disappointed, and it wasn't the game they were expecting, especially as they waited three years for it to launch.
