Riverdale Season 4 Spoilers: Is Jughead Really Dead?

In the season 3 finale, we see a flash-forward of the Core Four minus Jughead. The scene shows Archie, Veronica, and Betty standing around a bonfire in a forest, covered in blood in their bikinis, with Archie holding Jughead's famous beanie.

With seven aired episodes for season 4, we are yet to find out what actually happened to our burger-loving and beanie-wearing writer. Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed at the New York Comic Con 2019 panel that we will get the answers during the midseason finale, which will air mid-December.

Meanwhile, you might as well check out some fan theories to get you more excited-or worried-about Jughead's fate.

What Happened to Alice and the Farmies?

In the season 3 finale, it appeared that The Farm was raptured and the members have descended (except Kevin). So what actually happened to the cult members? What did Edgar Evernever (Chad Michael Murray) mean by "they have ascended?" Where's Alice?

In the new season, we can expect Betty's mom to get her revenge on the cult, as confirmed by Mädchen herself during the panel.

Will Veronica and Archie Get Back Together?

Calm your Varchie heart because we have great news for you: although Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendes) spent most of season 3 in the arms of Reggie Mantle (Charles Melton), the speakeasy senorita is set to get back with our beloved redhead, Archie Andrews (KJ Appa).

Has Cheryl Completely Gone Mad?

At the end of season 3, we see Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) with the corpse of her dead brother Jason (Trevor Stines). To this, Aguirre-Sacasa has something to say:

"As heightened and weird and macabre it is to have Jason in the crypt, the truth of that story is: Cheryl loved her brother dearly, she never got a chance to say goodbye to him, and she doesn't want to."

More Season 4 Spoilers: Meet the New Characters

Veronica's sister Hermosa Lodge (Mishel Prada), is coming to shake things up in town. Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that the new Lodge character will appear in episode 5.

A man named Mr. Honey (Kerr Smith) will replace Principal Weatherbee (Tony Wike) as the former Riverdale High principal was recruited by The Farm.

We'll also see more of Charles Smith who first appeared on the show during the season 3 finale. He's to look into The Farm and will work closely with Alice and Betty to mark the end of Edgar Evernever.

A Possible Crossover Is in the Works

Aguirre-Sacasa also noted at the panel that there will be "a pretty strong mention of Katy Keene" during the special Halloween episode. Katy Keene, a Riverdale spin-off based on the Archie Comics character of the same name, is set to premiere on Feb. 2020.

The upcoming musical comedy-drama TV series will star Lucy Hale and Ashleigh Murray, the actress who portrayed Josie McCoy in Riverdale.
