Square Enix and fans of the JRPG genre have long been waiting for the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the classic and well-loved PSOne game that paved the way for JRPGs and changed the gaming community forever.
With the Remake, fans are getting more than just an upgrade on graphics--we're also getting a more in-depth storyline and different storytelling than the original.
New Screens Released
Before the 2020 launch of FFVII Remake, Square Enix has released a new set of images from the much-awaited remake, accompanied with some context, and first shown in a blog post on PlayStation's website by Brett Elston, manager at SIE.
According to the blog post, weapons for Final Fantasy VII Remake have their own unique abilities that will further increase in proficiency when used.
The wielder can then learn the ability if the ability proficiency reaches the maximum level. Additionally, fans can upgrade Cloud's iconic Buster Sword, either by enhancing the wielder's status or increase the slots for Materia.
When it comes to combat, the "Classic" mode allows you to play the remake with a combat system that is similar to the original FFVII, meaning the party will act automatically when their ATB gauge fills up, and that you only need to choose which course of action they're going to take.
A Classic Combat Experience
According to IGN, the combat will be a combination of action-based combat, which can be seen on more modern Final Fantasy titles, as well as the turn-based combat the original is well-known for. Each character also has a unique ability that they can use during battles.
For example, Cloud can switch from Operator Mode to Punisher Mode, with the former leaning towards the right balance between offense and defense, while the latter does more damage due to focusing more on offense.
What's more, you can use Moogle and Chocobo for a special move called "Stampede," causing damage to the enemy by calling a herd of Chocobos and running down the enemy.
If you want to cool things off a bit, you can also play darts at the Seventh House.
Episode 2 in the Making
Besides the release of the new screens, it also seemed like Square Enix is already developing Episode 2 of Final Fantasy VII Remake, according to a report by Forbes.
When Square Enix announced the remake in 2015, they also said that the game would be split into multiple parts--but that each episode will be a full-length game.
"With regard to the size of the game that many are asking about, there's no reason at all to worry. Even in this Midgar portion alone, the density and volume are so great that I had to give directions to lighten them," director Tetsuya Nomura said.

Fans can expect the story to encompass the original's storyline.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Episode 1 will be released on March 3, 2020, and although the company is already working on the second episode, it is still unsure when it will be released for the public.
Additionally, we're also uncertain how many parts the game will have.
