Half-Life: Alyx Officially Coming in March 2020; Take Your First Look

After 13 years of being regarded by most gamers as one of the most unpopular cliffhangers in the history of a video game, Half-Life if finally returning in March 2020, this time, as a virtual reality game called Half-Life: Alyx. Valve tells the gaming world Alyx is a VR-exclusive, not to mention, a prequel of sorts. It was established between Half-Life and Half-2, during the times when Alyx Vance and Eli (her father) are creating the resistance to, as indicated in The Verge's site, "The Combine's alien occupation of Earth."

A review for Half-Life has it that one will play Alyx, and he'll be carrying a way to maneuver gravity once again. In the game's 'Gravity Gloves,' gamers can see Alyx wearing and using it in picking up a revolver from a distance and dealing with puzzles as seen in the trailer of the first game which is currently showing online.

What You Need to Play the Game and Its Promise

If you already played Half-Life before, higher requirements are needed from you if you intend to level-up with the game and try Alyx when it hits the gaming platform. The minimum requirements for the soon-to-be-launched video game include: Windows 10 Operating System (OS), Core i5-7500 or Ryzen 5 1600 for the processor, GTX 160/RX 580-6GB VRAM for the graphics—all of these are on top of the 8GB RAM and GTX 970 only needed to play the earlier Half-Life versions.

Half-Life: Alyx is certainly a game to look forward to as Valve promises, "all hallmarks of the classic Half-Life which include world exploration, visceral combat, puzzle-solving, and complexly woven story" connecting it all with the characters which the Half-Life world considers iconic. The first Half-Life game to have a voiced hero, this upcoming gaming, as some speculate, might be a "short demo for Valve Index, a new VR hardware of Valve." This is a full-length game, though, which, according to Valve, internal testers take quite longer as they choose to explore more deeply and have interaction with the environment.

Half-Life 2's Alyx was a Merle Dandridge portrayal; this new game's younger version of the character has been recast and this time, to be portrayed by Ozioma Akagha, an actor who played various major roles in several video games which include the Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Mirror's Edge, for one. Eli Vance, Alyx's father, is making an appearance though he's been recast following the sad death in 2017 of Robert Guillaume, who did his original voice.

About the Half-Life: Alyx

Half-Life: Alyx is the return of Valve's VR to the Half-Life successions. It is a story featuring an impossible battle against a venomous alien called Combine. This latest game edition takes place between the Half-Life and Half-Life 2 events. Playing the role of Alyx Vance, the player is the only chance of survival of humanity. The Combine's planet control since the incident involving Black Mesa only intensified as they round up the remaining populace in cities.

Among these people are some of the greatest scientists on earth—Alyx (the player) and his father, Dr. Eli Vance. As the inexperienced resistance founders, the player, and the father have continued their underground scientific dealings, conducting critical research studies and developing invaluable tools for a number of humans who are brave enough to confront the Combine. Every day, expect to learn more about the enemy, and, every day, too, the player would work toward searching for a weakness.
