Who does not know Amazon's Alexa, Microsoft's Cortana, or Apple's Siri? Three best names for the perfect virtual assistant anyone can ever dream off. But are they ready to conquer the world?
Voice Search is one of the most overrated features in Apple or Android phones or any gadgets. With its well-knowingly usage for most gadget users, voice search was recently presented as the next big thing to observe in the technology world and more interestingly, even for the traveling companies.
Impact of Voice Search
According to Forbes, in the year 2020, 30 percent of all websites in the world will no longer use typing but instead voice search. This means that voice-only features will be the main technology that users can apply to browse websites and search on the Internet.
Additionally, in Jan. 2018, a whopping one billion voice searches were done over the year. Taking these considerations, voice search became an interesting and profit-driven industry over all these years.
And once we say profit-driven, it is expected to drive other industries to go crazy. Take, for example, the traveling and leisure industry.
Search a Place Using Voice Search
Instead of finding places in social media to do some vacay and relaxing, let your virtual assistant do the talking and the screening of the places. You will no longer spend too much time on the Internet. Just tap that phone and talk to your traveling assistant on what you wanted to do with your getaway—and surprise! You will be amazed at what he or she chooses for you.
This is what researchers learned in 2018 as studies show that the rate of travelers using a voice-only feature on their phones increased from 47% to 50%.
Aside from this, they also found out that more than 70% of Chinese and Turkish citizens use voice search to find their destinations. India also reached the 3rd place as nearly 70% of Indians prefer to use voice search for their travels.
FlightHub, Canada's largest online travel agency, also believed in this major turnover.
"Voice search has taken off. It's evolving rapidly and integrating into the daily lives of consumers in ways they wouldn't have imagined a few short years ago. Teens love it. It makes life easier for adults," states FlightHub's Matt Keezer.
They even introduced their beta-version of LUCY, a virtual traveling assistant, allowing their customers to have a relaxing night out as their assistants do the location hunt.
Is Voice Search New in the Industry?
Speech recognition has been with us over the decades. However, voice search was only made available in 2012—making a huge difference in the technology world. Although years have only passed from its initial release, voice search is not new in the industry. Some might say that they even sneak in inside the scope without the world realizing it.
Even without these studies, people already knew that voice search plays an important role in the market. Whether it is redefining the norms of traveling or not, conveniency always wins at the end.
