Attack on Titan is nearing its end—both for the manga and the anime series, and the latest chapter has shown the darkest side of one of the series' protagonists, Eren Yeager, and now with the rumbling finally passing, what will the future hold for the people of Paradis?
During the previous chapters of the manga, it showed that Eren was able to look into the past—as was also portrayed in the anime series—but that he was also able to look into the future.
Eren's Terrifying Goal
With the latest Attack on Titan chapter, Chapter 123, fans were finally able to know what Eren had been fighting for all along, and the twist has led the then main protagonist as the story's antagonist in the end.
According to a report by the ComicBook, the last chapter of the well-loved manga revealed Ymir's past, the first Titan.
With that, Eren made his way to her heart and mind and soon got Ymir to lend her power to Eren, as he promised to end her suffering by causing massive destruction to the entire world.
Once he gained that power, all the giant Titans resting in the walls woke up, telling them that the goal was to protect the people of Paradis—and to do so, he will use the Titans to destroy every other land outside of their island and every life that does not belong to Paradis.
Eren's terrifying goal had been hinted in the past as the manga revealed he wanted to end the vicious Titan cycle once and for all.
The Biggest Antagonist
His goal has landed him as the final and perhaps the biggest antagonist of the series—but perhaps it had been foreshadowed as he betrayed his friends to join Zeke, and ultimately betraying him as well.
Even Mikasa, Eren's childhood friend, had begun wondering whether Eren had been like this all along and that even if she has confessed her true feelings for him, he would not care at all and continue on his path to utter destruction of the outside world.
Unfortunately, Attack on Titan fans are left wondering how the story will pan out and what will happen as the story reaches its climax and inevitable end.
But many believe that Eren will be bigger than the Colossal Titans, and will reach over 120 meters, according to International Business Times, especially now that he has immense powers.
Attack on Titan Chapter 124 will be released on Dec. 9.
