In celebration of Veterans Day, Apple laid out a few strategies to commemorate those who served in the United States military, starting with their website banner.
"Here's to the brave ones. We are proud to honor America's veterans and service members this Veterans Day and every day," the banner of Apple's company site reads.
The quote in the banner is a reference to Apple's Think Different ad campaign in 1997, which was launched by the popularized line "Here's to the crazy ones." The renowned launch commercial helped Apple achieve one of the greatest turnarounds in business history.
In a tweet, Apple CEO Tim Cook also expressed his appreciation for veterans all over the world for their service and sacrifice.
Apple Military Discount
For this special day, Apple reminded veterans that a 10% discount on its products is available for them.
The Apple Military Discount program is also applicable for those in active duty, United States Military, National Guard and Reserve, as well as the family members residing in the same household.
Users can order from any Apple retail store or on their website. However, there is a limited quantity of Apple products that can be shipped to the same eligible individual or entity.
Eligible personnel can only purchase or sponsor up to three computer systems, three iPad devices, three iPhone devices, three Apple Watch devices, three AirPods, ten iPod devices, and ten Apple accessories. Similar limitations exist for third-party accessories and AppleCare protection plans.
In a statement, Apple said that they are "deeply grateful to the men and women of our armed forces. We're proud to offer active military and veterans a new dedicated online store with special pricing as an expression of our gratitude for their brave service."
The Apple Military Discount program was launched in December 2018.
Activity Challenge
The annual Activity challenge in Apple watch was also part of Apple's tribute to veterans all over the world. Users can obtain a special Veterans Day activity badge when they complete any workout routine for at least 11 minutes. A Veterans Day sticker for messaging also comes with the Activity badge.
The Activity Challenge was only available to users in the United States.
Apple Projects for Veterans
Apple has been working in partnership with the US Department of Veterans Affairs to allow veterans to have access to their health records via iPhone. Earlier this month, they released this feature.
The self-updating Health app offers veterans with their health records, including medications, immunizations, laboratory results, and more. The Veterans Affairs connected Apple to some 1,243 facilities, laboratory networks, electronic health records vendors, and healthcare providers.
Apple assures that all health records data are encrypted and are protected by the user's iPhone passcode.
Another notable project of Apple is the Healium AR app, which is meant to help veterans manage their anxiety. The app provides guided meditations and syncs with Apple Watch, which transmits the user's heart rate. It incorporates visuals using the augmented reality technology so "users can harness their feelings and find a sense of calm," says Apple.
