Death Stranding is jokingly referred to by fans as a "walking simulator," and for the first dozen hours you're playing the game, it's accurate. However, you could ride a Trike early in the game, helping you get to places more quickly. Here's how you could get the trike.
Complete the Mission to the Wind Farm
You first will have to complete Order Number 9: Power Supply Unit Delivery to the Delivery Farm. This mission will have you travel to the Wind Farm, where you'll be taught how to build generators using the PCC (Portable Chiral Constructors). You'll need this generator for the bike we'll be using later on.
The PCC is a sort of 3D printing machine which allows Sam Porter Bridges to build various infrastructures on the game world. Mainly you'll be building bridges, as you'd see in the next mission, Order Number 10.
Charging the Trike
Now, after you've completed Order Number 9, head back to Distribution Center West and find the rusted Trike there. The first time you find it, you'll not be able to use it because of its current state. But if you build a generator beside it, the Trike will start charging. You'd be able to use the Trike afterwards for your deliveries or exploration.
However, to make use of the Trike more in the future, you should store it into the base. Leaving it there will repair the Trike to its original form. The next time you pick it up from the base, it'll be good as new.
The Trike helps move along rough terrain quickly, and also as a getaway vehicle should Sam finds himself in trouble. The Trike first runs with two separated wheels on the front, which merges into one when you press the L3 button, which makes the Trike drive faster. It is also useful in making a few deliveries, having a storage capacity of up to 2x3.
However, driving the Trike fast and carrying heavier cargo with it will result in faster battery consumption, so beware of that.
Note that later on in the game, you will get the ability to craft your own Trike, or even pick up Trikes that other players have left behind. Keep this in mind if ever you miss getting the first Trike when it gets lost in a Timefall.
Federal Express
The Reverse Trike is not the only vehicle Sam could use in Death Stranding. However, there's not really a lot of options to choose from. Aside from the Trike, there's the truck, which helps Sam transport more cargo in one go. However, the truck isn't as fast as the Trike, and it's also not usable in very rough terrain. There's also a floating carrier, which helps Sam carry cargo around through rough terrain uninhibited. However, Sam can't ride these floating carriers.
There would be places where vehicles cannot be used reliably. For these parts, you'll have to rely on your feet, so be sure always to carry an extra pair of shoes. Vehicle or no, you've got to make those deliveries.
Death Stranding is out now on the PlayStation 4 for $59.99. The game will also be released summer next year on Steam and the Epic Game Store.
