Epic Games Brings a New Weapon to 'Fortnite'

Fans are surprised when Epic Games dropped a new weapon on hit battle royale game Fortnite on Tuesday morning, November 5—adding the Harpoon Gun on its arsenal of weapons.

The Harpoon Gun

The Harpoon Gun is a powerful weapon that is similar to the previous Grappler weapon, but only without a mobility component and enabling you to snatch loot from far and reeling it towards you, as well as hit enemies for 75 damage on other players and 150 damage to structures.

As with loots, this weapon will reel in your enemies, so you'll want to be ready and exchange weapons so you can deal more damage.

Fans are also beginning to think that it could have a significant role in box battles.

According to IGN, fans have been wanting the Harpoon Gun for a while, and it's a real surprise when they did so without telling anyone.

Luckily, a Reddit user, Ep8Script, discovered the new weapon from a chest and shared his discovery to the platform, allowing his fellow players to know that there's something new they can find and use.

Like with the old Grappler, the Harpoon Gun also has limited ammo—specifically ten shots only—and that you need to find another one with another ten shots if the first one you picked ran out.

A Mysterious Chapter 2

Although the Harpoon Gun is a long-awaited weapon, and it is now in the realm of Fortnite, there are still others who are disappointed with its release, mainly due to the lack of patch notes and formal announcements from Epic Games.

Some players are expressing their disappointment online. According to a report from Express, many players are complaining about "communication," "transparency," and being kept "up to date" by Epic Games.

It seems like some people find it better to know what's going on ahead rather than randomly discovering a new upgrade.

Since the start of Fortnite Chapter 2, Epic Games began leaving new upgrades for people to discover, instead of telling them what has changed for the week through patch notes, and Forbes has noted that it's a way for the developers to keep the players guessing what's happening next and what's already in the game itself.

For some, the change is positive as it kept the mysterious vibe ever since the blackhole vortex incident.

Besides not sending patch notes to their fans, Epic Games is also under fire as they very recently banned a professional Fortnite player from the game after he was caught using aimbot during a recreational game, saying that the punishment was too hefty.
