The latest sneak peek on the second generation of Lenovo Tab M10 has recently appeared on the Android Enterprise website.
The listing has revealed several specifications on hardware, OS, and storage.
According to the leak, the featured tablet will have a 10.3-inch display—an upgrade from the 10.1-inch display of the first-generation model.
An octa-core chipset will power the tablet, along with 4GB of RAM. Options for 32, 64, and 128 GB of internal storage will be available.
Despite Android 10 being officially released last September, the tablet will reportedly run on Android 9 Pie. Lenovo upgrades their gadgets' OS even after release, so gadget enthusiasts hope an update for Android 10 will be available for the tablet in the future.
The post did not give details on the resolution of the display nor the slots for storage expansion, but the safe assumption is that it will have an expandable slot and a resolution of 1200x1920 pixels. There have been no details on the pricing either.
Areas for improvement
The second generation M10 is expected to have slightly better specifications than the first generation.
The first generation model has been released for months. Lenovo Tab M10 HD gained good reviews. The tablet is said to be affordable, with full HD resolution and reliable performance.
It features a 1920x1200 resolution, 2GB/3GB RAM, and 16GB/32GB internal storage with expandable slots. These specifications are good enough for most tasks, although multi-tasking and switching between applications can provide some minor inconvenience. Therefore, upgrading the second generation model to 4GB RAM is a step in the right direction.
Its camera could use an upgrade too. The first-generation model has a 2-megapixel front camera and 5-megapixel in the rear. Hopefully, the upcoming 2nd gen will have better cameras with higher specifications.
New Features
Some exciting features are also available in the first generation M10. For example, it has both Productivity Mode and Kid's Mode.
Productivity Mode turns the tablet's interface into something similar to a desktop. The navigation buttons slide to the right, and a taskbar which contains all the apps appears at the bottom. When switching on the productivity mode, it becomes easier to use the tablet with a mouse.
Kids Mode, on the other hand, provides an option for child-friendly content and interface. This feature is significant for families who want comprehensive parental control and filtered browsing.
These specifications of the first generation are handy. Hopefully, they will be available at least, if not upgraded, in the 2nd generation model.
Lenovo is known to have one of the broadest portfolios among technology giants, and the 2nd generation Lenovo Tab M10 is just one of its many products. By relying upon and investing heavily in research and development, they were able to introduce innovative gadgets—including the first foldable PC and 2-in-1 flip-and-fold laptop.
