Google has taken the wraps off the Pixelbook Go at its Made by Google 2019 event.
After multiple leaks in the recent weeks, the specs and features of the device don't come as much of surprise anymore. If nothing else, it's at least official now, and that also means its release date and pricing are out.
Pixelbook Go Specs
The Pixelbook Go isn't a 2-in-1 or something along those lines, like the Pixel Slate or the Pixelbook. Rather, it's a traditional clamshell, but it's compact and lightweight.
It sports a 13.3-inch HD (1,920 x 1,080) or 4K (3,840 x 2,160) touch screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Couple that with its "grippable design" and ultra-thin form factor, it's easy to hold, despite it not folding all the way back into a tablet of sorts.
Under the hood, it houses an eighth-generation Intel Core m3, i5 or i7 paired with either 8 or 16 GB of RAM. As for storage, it has an SSD that comes in configurations of 64, 128, or 256 GB. Two USB-C ports are also included, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Other features include what Google calls Hush Keys for silent typing. In other words, its keyboard will be so quiet that it won't make clacking noises. Battery life is also rated to last up to 12 hours on a single charge, and 20 minutes of charging supposedly provides 2 hours' worth of juice. The Mountain View brand made it a point to highlight these two aspects in its blog post.
Pixelbook Go Price And Release Date
The "Just Black" Pixelbook Go is already available for preorder in the United States and Canada. The "Not Pink" variant (as pictured above) is set to follow soon after. It's also scheduled to go up for preorder in January in the United Kingdom.
Pricing starts at $649, and just to be clear, that's for the model with a Core m3, 8 GB of RAM, and 64 GB SSD.
