Apple is launching a free repair program for certain iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, lengthily yet aptly called the "iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus Service Program for No Power Issues."

It seems that some units of the device in question have an issue that can prevent them from turning on. According to the company, the problem lies in a specific component under the phones' hoods, meaning it's not the users' fault if they refuse to power on.

iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus Free Repair

Apple posted the notice on its support website. While it did explain the issue, it didn't really expand on it, failing to mention which component is the culprit here.

"Apple has determined that certain iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices may not power on due to a component that may fail," it reads.

The Cupertino brand says that only the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus units manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019 are affected. In other words, the issue is only present in the ones that were produced after they were discontinued.

What Now?

Users who think their handsets have this problem can go to the support page and enter their serial number there to check whether they're eligible for the free repairs or not.

Once they've confirmed that their iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus is experiencing the issue, they have several options to choose from. For starters, they can look for an authorized Apple service provider or set an appointment at an Apple retail store and take their device there to have it fixed. They can also get in touch with Apple Support and send in the smartphone by mail to Apple's repair center.

It's worth mentioning that iOS 13 works on both the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and that's all the more reason for owners to take advantage of this free repair program, seeing as Apple still supports the handsets software-wise.
