The Pokémon Company has made another key addition to the Pokémon Sword roster with the debut of Farfetch'd's new evolutionary form, Sirfetch'd.
The buffed out "Wild Duck" Pokémon was introduced via a new Pokedex entry to the official Pokémon Sword website. It's believed to be mysterious Pokémon that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company teased about last week through a glitched-out image on Twitter.
Sirfetch'd, The Noble Knight
Pokémon Sword describes Sirfetch'd as a noble knight that fights its opponents "fair and square." They come from Farfetch'ds that live in the Galar region that have evolved after going through numerous battles.
Compared to most other Pokémon, Sirfetch'd conduct themselves in a very calm and collected manner. Whenever they engage their foes, they make it a point to fight them fairly. Their behavior is well-admired in the Pokémon world that they are often depicted by artists as motifs in their artwork. This can be seen in a famous painting in the Galar region that shows a Sirfetch'd and an Escavalier duking it out in battle.
Sirfetch'd can be easily identified by its pristine white feathers. When in battle, this Pokémon mainly uses a sharp stalk of leek as a lance and thick leaves as a shield. It is known to treasure its weapon very dearly, so much so that it will carry it throughout its entire lifetime. Once the leek becomes withered, Sirfetch'd will finally leave the battlefield and retire from Pokémon battles altogether.
Sirfetch'd's signature move is Meteor Assault, which is an attack first introduced in Pokémon Sword. It points its leek lance at its foe and charges at them at great speed. The attack is known to cause significant damage to opponents, but it also has a downside to it. After executing the move, Sirfetch'd won't be able to take another action for a while.
Joining Sirfetch'd in Pokémon Sword are a number of new Pokémon native to the Galar region. While some are game-specific variations of existing Pokémon, others are original to Sword. These include Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble, Zacian, Zamazenta, Gossifleur, Eldegoss, Wooloo, and the Galarian forms of Weezing and Zigzagoon.
Fan Reactions To Sirfetch'd's Reveal
When Nintendo and The Pokémon Company first teased about Sirfetch'd, fans of the game franchise were excited to find out what was behind the glitched-out picture.
Some Twitter users deduced that it might be a Farfetch'd, with one going so far as to correctly guess that the Pokémon must have experienced many battles to have evolved into such a form.
Other users shared their own interpretations of the new Pokémon based on the graphic. A couple of these images were even on point.
With Sirfetch'd finally revealed, Pokémon fans went on social media to express their excitement regarding the latest addition.
