Google is nearly ready with its new service, Play Pass, which will provide users with a subscription to premium games and applications.
The company went on Twitter to tease the upcoming service, saying that the Google Play Pass will be coming soon.
Along with the caption, Google attached a GIF resembling an admission ticket with the company colors.
Google Play Pass
Google Play Pass is an upcoming subscription service that will give users access to a range of games and apps that would typically need to be bought at the Google Play Store.
While there have been reports of this service since last year, Google started its testing period in late July 2019 and unveiled a number of details about the Play Pass.
According to 9to5Google, the price during the testing period was $4.99 per month with a free trial of 10 days. It's unclear whether the company will be changing the price point on the actual launch of the service.
Play Pass will include hundreds of premium applications with all the functions and features unlocked. Each app, including fitness trackers and music tools, will be ad-free and will not require further in-app purchases.
Stardew Valley and Marvel Pinball are two of the premium games that are expected to be part of the new service. Aside from games, the subscription will also include regular apps.
There will be a new section for Play Pass apps in Google Play.
Giving Apple Arcade A Run For Its Money
Google's announcement came just as Apple is gearing up for Apple Arcade, which it announced last March. An extension of the App Store, the upcoming service will have 100 new exclusive games at its launch and will be available to more than 150 countries.
According to GamesRadar, game developers like Lego and Bossa are even creating new titles especially for Apple Arcade. Apple also confirmed the 31 different games that will be offered with the subscription service.
Some of the titles that users can expect are Beyond a Steel Sky, Doomsday Vault, Hitchhiker, Lego Brawls, Overland, Winding Worlds, and Yaga.
It should be noted that unlike the Google Play Pass, Apple Arcade will be purely dedicated to games and will not include regular apps, at least at the time of launching.
Apple Arcade is expected to launch in fall, along with the company's other highly anticipated products.
