Chinese company Huawei Mobile has set the launch date of its upcoming flagship smartphones, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro series, on Sept. 19
Launch Date Set
In a short teaser video posted on Twitter, Huawei confirmed the two phones will drop in a launch event in Munich, Germany. In the post, the company said it is going full circle in Munich on 19.09.09, clearly referencing to the Mate 30, which reportedly features a circular quad-camera array on the back of the device.
The company also started a countdown to the launch in Munich that is dubbed "Rethink Possibilities." Huawei has yet to confirm when the handsets will go on sale globally but the entire Mate 30 Pro launch event will be streamed on a dedicated microsite on the launch day.
The U.S. ban on Huawei still in effect, so, new Mate 30 phones will likely launch without support for Android apps and license to use Google’s OS.
What's Known About The Mate 30 Series So Far
The Mate 30 Pro will reportedly come with the Kirin 990 chipset, which is expected to be unveiled at the IFA. A 5G model could also be expected.
Leaks and rumors also state that the Mate 30 Pro will have a 4,200mAh battery, which is the same as the Mate 20 Pro. Information from Huawei's FCC filing for wireless charger reveals that it might come with a new wireless charging pad that has an input capacity of 5 to 10 volts and 4 amps or 20 to 40 watts.
It is also speculated that Huawei will upgrade the Mate 30 Pro to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, from what the Mate 20 Pro has packed with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This possible upgrade will make the Mate 30 at par with similar models from Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and other phone brands.
Huawei's previous flagships, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, carried a triple-lens camera setup on the rear which gathered great reviews. Spectators are betting that Huawei will continue its emphasis on image quality for the Mate 30 series. As for the display, it will sport a 6.71 AMOLED screen with a larger notch, and a curvier screen.
The Mate 30 series phones will have the Android Q underneath EMUI 11. This is not confirmed yet because other information states that Huawei will launch a Hongmeng OS-equipped phone in the same quarter as the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro’s launch. Other reports say there is no plan for a HarmonyOS phone this year.
