'Fortnite' Is Getting Reboot Vans, Which Are Basically 'Apex Legends' Revive Stations

Epic Games has announced that it's adding Reboot Vans to Fortnite.

The new feature is set to be the game's respawn system. From the look of things, it's inspired by the revive stations of Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends.

'Fortnite' Respawn System

The addition of Reboot Vans is going to be included in v8.30. As Epic Games' Nathan Mooney explained in a Dev Update, players can revive eliminated teammates by getting their Reboot Card and activating them at a Reboot Van. That way, their allies will come back to life and continue the fight.

Using a Reboot Van will attract a lot of attention, though, because the vehicle will light up and make a ton of noise, as well as provide information of how many players are being "rebooted." It's also worth mentioning that revived players won't have weapons or the like, so they're going to need a little help to get started again. On top of that, Reboot Vans will be rendered unavailable for some time after it's been used.

If this all sounds familiar, that's because it's similar to the revive system in Apex Legends, where instead of Reboot Cards, they use banners.

Update v8.30 is expected to roll out next week.

Pretty Much Expected

In February, Epic Games held a Reddit AMA. Back then, a user asked whether a respawn system would make it into Fortnite or not, and the development team pretty much said yes.

"We've been considering this mechanic for a while and have been exploring it. Want to make sure we give it the time it needs and fully understand its impact on the game as a whole. Look for further updates during Season 8," they said.

On Feb. 28, Season 8 of Fortnite then kicked off, and now the developers have an official update on the respawn mechanic.
