iPhone Stops Arrow, Saves Australian Man's Life

Apple may be adding "life preservation" to its iPhone's features in the future. This follows after a 43-year-old Australian man in northern New South Wales was reportedly saved by his iPhone in a bow-and-arrow attack.

According to reports, the man drove into his driveway at around 9 a.m. in Nimbin Road on Wednesday when he noticed another man, who is known to him, armed with a bow and arrow. The victim then tried to take a picture using his iPhone when the arrow suddenly pierced through the phone.

Too Bad The Screen Protector Didn't Survive

The impact was so forceful that the arrow pierced right through the iPhone, embedding the ammunition before it hit the victim. However, the force of the impact probably caught him off guard and the iPhone reportedly hit his chin resulting in minor injuries that did not need medical attention.

The victim then contacted the Richmond Police District who rushed to his residence. Authorities arrested a 39-year-old man and charged him with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, as well as assault occasioning to actual bodily harm and malicious damage.

The suspect was granted a conditional bail, and is set to appear in court on April 15.

Apple Devices Save Lives

This is not the first time an Apple device saved the life of its owner. In 2015, an iPhone also saved the life of a 24-year-old student who fought with a mugger as the latter tried to take away his computer bag. The mugger pulled out a gun and a struggle ensued until the gun went off. Fortunately, the bullet hit the iPhone in the student's front pocket, leaving him unharmed.

Another life was saved when a MacBook Pro allegedly protected a man's life in a Florida shooting in 2017. The gunman entered into an airport, pulled out a gun, and opened fire at unsuspecting victims. The MacBook Pro owner heard the gunshots and took cover, allowing his backpack to act like a "tortoise shell." He managed to survive the shooting with the help of the laptop.
