Twitter is now finally updating its web version after working on a number of overhauls for its mobile app. The micro-blogging site just announced on Wednesday, Jan. 23, that it's rolling out a revamped version for their web users. Twitter for web will have a simpler but more functional look.
Twitter's New Web Interface
The new Twitter for desktop features a two-column view instead of the usual three. The redesign does away with the quick user profile view on the left side and moves the upgraded Trend section to the right, just below the Who to Follow area. The update also brings with it an advanced Search option.
Users can now also tweet easier through handy keyboard shortcuts, not to mention a new tweet box that has a button for adding emojis.
However, not all users will get to see the update — for now. According to Twitter, they're rolling out a revamped web version only to a number of users as of the moment. Those who are selected to try out this new interface will see an opt-in button. Of course, there's an option to pass for those who do not want to try Twitter's new look.
There's no news, though, on when this redesigned version will roll out to all web users, but make sure to check back with Tech Times for future updates on this.
Other Twitter Updates
Twitter has been experimenting on its timeline for quite a while, opting for an algorithm-based feed that shows top tweets instead of newer ones. After some users complained of this update, Twitter decided to finally bring back the old version of its timeline, allowing users to see real-time tweets.
This update went live in December 2018, when Twitter enabled the reverse-chronological feed for iOS. Just last week, the company finally rolled out the same update to its Android users.
