Samsung To Unveil Galaxy S10 At February’s Unpacked Event

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S10 on Feb. 20, which will take place at Samsung's Unpacked Event in San Francisco.

In the middle of all the tech parade at this year's CES, Samsung got heads turning after a video was posted in its official Twitter page.

Galaxy S10 At Unpacked

The short but juicy video shows what appears to be curved edges with different colors placed alongside each other while the numbers 1 and 0 glides through them. The end of the clip shows the event details and a link to the live stream.

The numbers in the teaser video most likely refer to the Galaxy phone's 10th edition, and the curved edges could mean two different versions of the phone. Or maybe it's just showing the possible color options. As always, everything's not carved in stone until the official launch happens.

An announcement was also posted in Samsung Newsroom.

Taking A Head Start

Unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy S9, Samsung apparently chose to unveil the 10th anniversary Galaxy phone before this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

According to The Korea Herald, this may be due to Huawei's possible launch of its foldable phone during the MWC, happening on Feb. 25 to 28. Samsung's foldable phone, on the other hand, is yet to be unveiled as well, though no confirmed date is in sight.

"Because it is the first foldable phone by Samsung, we are thinking more about offering some powerful contents for better user experiences that can be earned only from the foldable phone," a Samsung official said.

To put things into perspective, Huawei took the second spot from Apple in terms of market shares, and now it's setting its sights to take on Samsung — currently at the top spot — by 2020.

Galaxy S10 Rumors

Earlier this month, a video courtesy of Ice Universe, a known Samsung insider, showed an alleged Samsung Galaxy S10 protective case being fitted into other smartphones. The case in question shows a horizontal cutout for the cameras and a slot at the bottom for the headphone jack.

According to rumors, the Galaxy S10 will have four cameras at the back and two cameras on the front and will come in different variants, perhaps the usual Edge version and a Lite one. The most expensive variant will reportedly support 5G networks, but as with all rumors, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
