2018 is nearly closing, which means it's time to write New Year's resolutions once more. Among the constants on lists like this are related to health, and Google Fit's challenges starting Jan. 1 will make sure people really stick to those promises.
As New Year's usually mark the new fitness resolutions, most often than not, these aren't religiously followed. With this, Google recently announced that its fitness tracking app, Fit, is going to launch 30-day events come first day of 2019 that will have the users earning Heart Points for staying active, regardless of the activity.
Moving With Google Fit After The Holidays
The Google Fit app is available on Android and Wear OS smartwatches. As users stay active, a point is given for one minute of moderate activities, such as brisk walking. More intense exercises such as kickboxing and running are equal to two points.
This basically encourages people to keep moving no matter what and does not solely focus on gym-centric activities or strict fitness routines. Google even suggested some works that can help those from colder regions earn points, such as sledding and shoveling snow.
Google Fit Advises Reaching 150 Points
It can also be paired with specific apps, including Pokémon GO, in which the Google Fit can track steps as players catch pocket monsters. It is asking users to hit the 150 points per week, which equals the ideal amount of activities set by the World Health Organization and the American Heart Association.
To further champion the importance of health and to inspire users to adhere to their New Year's resolution of getting back in shape, Google Fit teamed up with 36 YouTube and Instagram influencers from all over the world.
