Macaulay Culkin Recreates 'Home Alone' Scenes In New Google Ad

'90s kids will probably remember Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister in the Christmas movie Home Alone. That's why his Google commercial, where he played the same role but as an adult, may be nostalgic in all its glory.

The 1990 comedy adventure film is a classic, a staple during the holidays, where Culkin starred as the ever-fearless child who was accidentally left behind when two bad guys tried to rob the house. Apart from the success of the film, it earned the former child star a Golden Globe nomination.

'Home Alone' Remake

That said, Home Alone, along with its lead character, has become iconic. Now, Google puts Culkin back as the adult version of Kevin in its newest advertisement that includes the recreation of some of the most memorable scenes from the film.

The remake starts with the 38-year-old Culkin opening his bedroom door and then calling out his mom and dad. Kevin then asks Google Home for the schedule, to which it replied: "You have one event called, 'House to yourself," a little twist to the original storyline.

This is the beginning of an entire day of fun and games, just like the old times. From the iconic line thrown at the pizza delivery guy, "Keep the change, ya filthy animal!" to the mannequins in the living room, the reenactment is pristinely humorous, partly because of the adult problems embedded, and is impeccably accurate to the details of the original film.

Convenience With Google Assistant

Of course, the "Home Alone" remake offered a more adult perspective and with a little more convenience thanks to Google Home at the man's service. Sandwiched in Kevin's antics are his tasks easily done with the virtual assistant, including changing the house's temperature and keeping the robbers at bay.

Culkin himself was very amazed at how the Google ad was made, saying "all the shots were spot on." Along with the commercial is a behind the scenes of the clip, which will give light on how the final product came to be and the actor's insights on the remake.
