A Christmas story about an elderly preparing 14 gifts for his 2-year-old neighbor before passing away is sweeping the world by storm.
An awe-inspiring story has touched the hearts of the people after the act of kindness underlined the true meaning of Christmas. A father from Wales, Owen Williams, decided to share the surprising yet heart-melting efforts of his late neighbor Ken on social media.
14 Christmas Gifts For Little Girl
Owen and his wife, Caroline, lived next to the late octogenarian, whom they said was very fond of their 2-year-old daughter, Cadi, for the last two years. Ken recently passed away, but he made sure the little girl will feel his presence for the next 14 years.
The unexpected happened: On Monday night, Ken's daughter knocked on the Williams' residence with a huge plastic sack on her hand, which Owen initially thought was something that needed throwing out. However, the woman explained that the package contained the gifts prepared and bought by her dad for their child.
"In the sack were all the Christmas presents he'd bought for our daughter for the next thirteen years," Owen revealed in a tweet before following it up with a correction, saying he miscounted and that the gifts totaled 14.
Owen, clutching up the big sack of gifts for his daughter, brought it inside and showed it to his wife, who was on FaceTime with her mom. The touching moment had left all of them in tears.
To Open One Gift Per Year Or In One Batch?
The father said Ken, who died in his late 80s, would oftentimes tell them he would reach 100, which meant the gifts were up until their daughter reaches her 16th birthday. Owen further added that they were clueless if the elderly had prepared the presents in his last two years or if he had bought these just before he passed away.
The couple wanted to give each present every year, but said they were not sure of the age appropriation of each gift. So overwhelmed with what happened and unsure of what to do, Owen sought the help of the Twitterverse of what they think was best: to open all of them now and just rewrap them or to just give one per year until 2032.
Majority of the respondents want to give Cadi one gift per year. However, the couple were eager to see the presents, opening one earlier than Christmas, which was a book titled Christmas Eve at the Mellops by Tomi Ungerer.
