U.S. subscribers can now stream Apple Music on Amazon Echo speakers via the Alexa app, a few days prior to its official release.
Amazon supposedly scheduled the rollout of Apple Music support on its Echo smart speakers on Monday, Dec. 17. Thankfully, Apple Music is now live on Alexa app for iOS and Android devices earlier than expected.
Apple Music Now Live In Alexa App
Apple Music subscribers in the United States can now link their accounts with Amazon Echo smart speakers via the Alexa app, which also supports other music streaming services such as iHeartRadio, Deezer, Pandora, Spotify, and more.
On its official website, Apple has released an official support document announcing Apple Music integration with the smart speaker via Alexa voice control app for iPhones or iPad devices.
"If you're an Apple Music subscriber, you can ask Alexa to play songs, artists, playlists, and more from Apple Music or playlists from your Library," the document reads.
This means Apple Music users can now have an access to a great selection of songs or albums from their favorite artists using Alexa voice control feature. For example, they can say voice commands like "Alexa, play music by Ed Sheeran on Apple Music" or "Alexa, play Pure Pop on Apple Music."
How To Set Up Apple Music As Default In Alexa App
To make it more convenient, however, subscribers can set Apple Music as their default music service in the Alexa app. That way, they no longer have to tell Alexa which service to use each time they want to play songs from Apple Music.
Here is how to set up Apple Music as default in Alexa App on Amazon Echo speakers as provided by 9to5Mac:
- Open the Alexa app on iPhone or iPad devices
- Tap the Settings icon in the top left corner (3 lines)
- Tap Settings → Music
- Toward the bottom, tap Choose default music services
- Select Apple Music for Default music library and Default station service
The Apple Music support is made available to all Amazon Echo smart speakers. Unfortunately, this update excludes the third-party Alexa-enabled speakers like Sonos.
Amazon, an e-commerce and consumer electronics company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, announced late last month that it entered a new partnership with Apple. It said that the integration of Apple Music with Amazon Echo speaker via the Alexa app shows its continued commitment to offer customers great music providers like Apple Music, which is one of today's most popular music streaming services.
