Adam Levine will be the only coach not represented in next week's finale of The Voice Season 15 on NBC.
On Tuesday, Dec. 11, four of the eight remaining singers were booted out of the show, including Reagan Strange of Team Adam. The decision was made after last week's controversial episode where Levine pleaded for viewers to save the 14-year-old pop/soul singer despite her non-appearance.
Adam Levine Favors Reagan Strange
To recall, Strange and DeAndre Nico who was also in Team Adam were up for elimination. They had the chance to sing to the audience to gain enough votes and stay, but Strange was too sick to perform.
The controversy happened here when, after Nico performed John Legend's "All of Me," the coaches showered him with praises. Levine, however, pleaded with the audience to instead vote for Strange.
"This sucks, man. DeAndre, you're an exquisite singer. I'm a little confused as to why you're in the bottom. That perplexes me," he started. "I want you to know I love you. I appreciate what you've done here tonight, and honestly, I think you should both be there. But I gotta fight for my girl."
At the end of the episode, host Carson Daly announced the results. America chose to save Strange who was unable to sing during the episode. Nico was eliminated.
Viewers were upset, some outraged after Levine had dropped Nico in favor of Strange. Many called out the Maroon 5 singer for being unprofessional.
Reagan Strange Leaves 'The Voice'
Unfortunately, Levine's support could not send the young singer toward the finale. She and her coach addressed the backlash briefly on the show. They clarified that there were no hard feelings between Strange and Nico after last week's controversial episode.
Although Nico left an optimistic and gracious note on Instagram to thank Levine and the show, he admitted during an interview that he was hurt. Despite Levine and Nico's support, Strange was eliminated on Tuesday night.
The four contestants who will battle it out next week are Team Kelly Clarkson's Chevel Shepherd, Team Blake Shelton's Kirk Jay and Chris Kroeze, and Team Jennifer Hudson's Kennedy Holmes. The episode airs on Dec. 18.
