Apple has launched a dedicated online store where active military personnel, veterans, and their immediate family can purchase products at a 10 percent discount.
Dedicated Online Store For Military Personnel And Veterans
Apple, on Monday, announced the launch of its Veterans and Military Store webpage just in time for the holidays. It has already offered active military and veteran discounts in Apple's store for government employees but it did not have a dedicated online store for active and veteran members of the military.
Some products such as the iPhone and the Apple Watch are not also discounted. The discounts are likewise modest, ranging from just 2 percent to 6 percent.
The dedicated store offers a discount that covers popular Apple products such as the iPhone and Apple Watch, as well as software, speakers, and accessories, including products from third parties. The price break, however, does not apply to iTunes/Apple Music content.
Program Also Offered To Immediate Family Members
Apple said that its Veterans and Military Purchase Program is a benefit that it provides to current and veteran members of the U.S. Military, National Guard and Reserve.
The program is also offered to members of their immediate family who live in the same household. Extending the program to the immediate family could be useful for active military personnel who are currently deployed.
"At Apple we are deeply grateful to the men and women of our armed forces. We're proud to offer active military and veterans a new dedicated online store with special pricing as an expression of our gratitude for their brave service," Apple said in a statement.
With the launch of the new store, eligible customers who seek the 10 percent discount at physical Apple Stores will be assisted by an employee who can help them order from the dedicated online store. They can also get the product from the store if stocks are available.
For Personal Use Only
Apple said that the program is for personal use only and discourages buying items for the purpose of selling them.
"Under this Program, Apple sells and ships products to end user customers only. You may not purchase for resale. Apple reserves the right to refuse or cancel your order if Apple suspects you are purchasing for resale." Apple said.
