The Pixel Slate, a tablet powered by Chrome OS, was leaked just a few days before the Made by Google event on Oct. 9, further removing its surprise factor.
Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones in the upcoming event. A Chrome OS tablet was one of the rumored devices that will show up, and it appears that the rumors are indeed true.
Google Pixel Slate Leaked
An exclusive report by MySmartPrice revealed the first images of the Pixel Slate, which will be Google's first Chrome OS tablet and its challenger to Microsoft's Surface Pro line.
The pictures acquired by the website show that the Pixel Slate will come with cameras at the front and back, a built-in fingerprint reader, front-facing stereo speakers, and a USB-C port on one side.
The Pixel Slate will also come with a detachable keyboard, which features a Google Assistant key near the space bar and a "hamburger" button at the top right. The tablet also comes with a stylus, which will be a refreshed version of the Pixelbook Pen.
There are several Pixel Slate details left unconfirmed, though, including its specifications and price tag. Chrome OS fans will not have to wait long before they find out, though.
Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL To Be Unveiled
The Pixel Slate joins the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL as the expected devices that will be unveiled at the Made by Google event on Oct. 9. Other rumored announcements include a version of the Google Home smart speaker with a screen and new Android Wear smartwatches.
Google, however, might not have any surprises up their sleeves left for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, as the smartphones have been the subject of numerous leaks. The Pixel 3 XL, in particular, has already been featured in a hands-on video that confirmed the device's 6.7-inch screen, the deep notch at the top, and the 12.2-megapixel rear camera, among other things.
The Pixel 3 leaks have even gotten to the point where there is speculation that Google is doing it on purpose, after the smartphone was "accidentally" left in the back seat of a Lyft ride.
