Apple has finally sent out invites for an event on Sept. 12, when the company is largely expected to unveil the 2018 iPhones.
The event will be more than just iPhones though, as Apple is also said to be unveiling the fourth-generation Apple Watch and new iPad Pro models.
Apple iPhone Event 2018: Gather Round On Sept. 12
Apple has released media invites for its annual iPhone announcement event, which will be held on Sept. 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park Campus in Cupertino, California.
The simplistic invitations feature an image of a ring with the tagline "Gather Round," likely referring the ring-shaped building at Apple Park.
Apple is expected to unveil three new iPhone models at the event, namely 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED iPhones and a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, all of which are inspired by the iPhone X. Other rumored new Apple products that will be making an appearance at the highly anticipated event include the Apple Watch Series 4, a redesigned iPad Pro, a new MacBook Air, and an updated Mac Mini.
iPhone XS, Apple Watch Series 4 Leaked
Shortly after the invitations for the Sept. 12 event were released, 9to5Mac shared the first look of the upcoming OLED iPhones and the new Apple Watch.
According to 9to5Mac, the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED iPhones will be collectively known as the iPhone XS, copying the naming convention of adding an "S" for minor upgrades that was last seen with the iPhone 6S.
The iPhone XS will come with a new gold color option. It can be remembered that there was a gold iPhone X found in an FCC filing last year, and while the color option never arrived for the iPhone X, it looks like it will be coming to its successor, the iPhone XS.
In addition to the iPhone X, 9to5Mac also revealed the first look at the Apple Watch Series 4. The biggest change to the smartwatch is that it will have an edge-to-edge display with drastically reduced bezels around the device's screen. The new Apple Watch will also have an updated watch face that will show much more information at the same time.
There are still more details about the iPhone XS and the Apple Watch Series 4 that remain hidden though, with arguably the most important unknown information being the price of the new Apple products. As always, Apple will be streaming the event live on its website, so users looking forward to the announcement on Sept. 12 will have the option of tuning in from anywhere.
