Bose, a longtime audio device manufacturer, will throw its hat into the AI-speaker systems market as it introduced a new wireless smart speaker and two new smart soundbars.
Bose will come out with the Home Speaker 500 for music and the Bose Soundbar 700 and Soundbar 500 for music and home theater. The three new speakers are powered by Amazon Alexa voice support system. The Home Speaker 500 will compete with high-end AI-speaker systems such as the Sonos One, the Apple HomePod, and the Google Home Max.
Doug Cunningham, category manager in the Bose Consumer Electronics Division, said Bose's latest products are equipped with the proprietary mic technology installed in Bose headsets so it can hear commands despite high volumes. Cunningham said other voice assistants will be installed in the future, while Bose will add AirPlay 2 to its latest products in early 2019.
The new products sport Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and built-in Alexa voice command so the user can gain instant access to songs, information, entertainment, and smart home control, among others. The three products will be available in October, with the Home Speaker 500 selling for $399.95. The Soundbar 500 and 700 will be sold for $549.95 and $799.95, respectively.
Cunningham said that while there are many available voice-controlled speakers in the market, he promises that Bose will make the experience better for customers who will choose their products. Cunningham said one Home Speaker 500 is enough to provide true stereo separation, while the two thin soundbars can deliver awesome sound while listening to music or watching a movie.
Home Speaker 500 Has Widest Soundstage
Despite its compact size, the Home Speaker 500 boasts of the widest soundstage compared to any smart speaker in the market. Measuring 8 inches high, 6 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, the Home Speaker 500 contains two custom drivers pointed in opposite directions. This way, the speaker will provide a powerful and lifelike sound without the artificial effects and distortion that might hamper your listening pleasure.
Soundbar 700 and Soundbar 500 Designed To Outperform
Measuring 2 inches high, 4 inches deep, and 38 inches long, the Bose Soundbar 700 matches its sleek design with a stunning performance that provides clear and detailed sound for music, movie, and streaming. Also, the Soundbar 700 is packed with technology that Bose is known for, including the PhaseGuides, DSP, custom low-profile transducers, and QuietPort technology, making it a serious threat to other AI speakers in the market. Bose described the Soundbar 500 as a workhorse, allowing the user to switch seamlessly from audio for video to music. Its compact design allows user to fit the soundbar under the television screen almost unnoticed.
