Good news awaits fans of the Doom franchise as Doom Eternal, its next video game installment, is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Many gamers were surprised when Doom 2016 version came out on Switch. Now, Bethesda has announced on Twitter that its sequel, Doom Eternal, will be making its way to Nintendo's hit console once more.
'Doom Eternal' Release, Platforms
The video game's official Twitter account has unveiled that aside from Nintendo Switch, Doom Eternal will also be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The aforementioned consoles have machines that are more powerful than the Switch, especially for those who consider the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.
The concurrent release suggests that it will differ from Doom as it was only launched on Switch nearly a year after it had been released to consoles.
People expect that the Doom Eternal on Switch would not be at par in terms of the visual with its versions coming out for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. That is because the Switch cannot handle the same technical requirements compared to its competition.
Panic Button, the video game studio that is in charge of porting the Doom reboot and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus to Switch, has done an amazing job in translating the games into the system. The company tweeted the news about Doom Eternal on Switch, suggesting that it will also handle the job once more.
Whether Panic Button will be behind the port or not, it is expected, however, that the quality of its visuals will be similar to Wolfenstein II and Doom.
Success For Nintendo Switch
Doom Eternal's availability for Switch does not just prove the strong relationship between Nintendo and Bethesda. It also indicates the significant success of the new console for both the company and video gaming in general.
Notably, the release of Nintendo's Wii U has put the company in a rough state. However, the Nintendo Switch has done wonders with its high sales figures and is attracting third-party publishers even when it means more time and money to port their games to the console.
The launch of Doom Eternal on Switch shows that the version is at the same league when it comes to priority as any other consoles. Also, the simultaneous release of the game suggests many aspects of Nintendo Switch's future. For example, Bethesda is rumored to design games specifically for Nintendo's hybrid console.
