Microsoft Will Reveal New Xbox One Bundles And Accessories At Gamescom: What Could They Be?

Microsoft will be participating in Gamescom in Germany next month, where it is planning to unveil new Xbox One bundles and accessories, according to a blog post by Larry Hyrb, more popularly known as Major Nelson.

Gamescom will start on Aug. 21, so Xbox One gamers will not have to wait long for the planned announcements. Will the Xbox Two, or whatever Microsoft will call the Xbox One successor, be unveiled at the annual event?

Microsoft, Xbox Gamescom 2018 Plans

In the blog post, Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb said that Microsoft will feature "a great line up" of Xbox One games at the upcoming Gamescom 2018, which will be held in Cologne, Germany.

Microsoft will host a special episode of Inside Xbox from Gamescom 2018 on Aug. 21, 7:30 am PT, and will bring back Xbox FanFest on Aug. 23. The Xbox booth, meanwhile, will feature 25 games across a wide range of genres, with mentioned titles including Forza Horizon 4, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the Daybreak Pack of State of Decay 2, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Gamescom 2018: New Xbox Elite Controller, Xbox Two Rumors

Perhaps the most interesting line in the Microsoft blog post is that there will be "new Xbox One bundles and accessories" that will be revealed at Gamescom 2018.

The most probable thing is that Microsoft will unveil the rumored Xbox Elite Wireless Controller 2.0. More details have recently leaked about the accessory, including the fact that it will be an "evolution" instead of a "revolution" as its predecessor already did most things right. The upgraded Xbox Elite controller is also rumored to feature USB-C charging, Windows 10 support, and additional features such as tension control for joysticks.

An earlier version of the blog post, however, said that Microsoft was planning to reveal "all-new Xbox hardware and accessories." This spawned speculation that the Xbox Two, or whatever Microsoft will call the successor of the Xbox One.

However, the language of the blog post was later changed to its current one, with Hryb later owning up to the error and clarifying that there will be an Xbox bundle and accessory news at Gamescom 2018, not new Xbox hardware.

It was very unlikely that the Xbox Two release date will come so soon, as Microsoft just released the Xbox One X in November last year.

Instead, gamers should expect either a special edition or a cheaper version of a bundle that includes the Xbox One S or Xbox One X.
