Apple previewed over 70 new emojis that will be introduced to iPhones and iPads later this year through the upcoming iOS 12 update, as part of the celebrations for World Emoji Day.
Apple has taken the concept of emojis to a whole new level, starting with the Animoji feature that mimic the facial expressions of users, and soon with the Memoji feature in iOS 12 that will allow users to create Animojis of themselves. It is good to know Apple has not forgotten the basic emojis in iPhone and iPad keyboards that users love to add to conversations.
New iOS Emojis 2018: Redhead, Party Face, Peacock, Cupcake, And More
New emoji for iPhone and iPad owners are on their way, with Apple revealing over 70 of the new emoticons coming soon in iOS 12.
Apple revealed over 70 new emoji in celebration of World Emoji Day. The company did the same thing last year, so it should be safe to assume that Apple will be unveiling new emoji every year every July 17.
The new emoji include more hair options for better representation of people with curly hair, red hair, gray hair, and even no hair. There will also be new smiley faces for users to express a wider range of emotions, including a party face, a pleading face, a cold face, and a face surrounded by hearts. There will even be superhero emojis.
More animals will also be added to the iOS emoji keyboard, including a parrot, a lobster, a kangaroo, and a very intricately designed peacock. There will also be more food emojis, with incoming lettuce, mango, moon cake, and cupcake icons.
"As always, some of the most vocal requests for new emojis are about representation, and this update delivers some of the most common requests. In particular the redheads and curly haired options are likely to be popular," said Emojipedia founder and World Emoji Day creator Jeremy Bunge.
Emojis Available On iOS 12 Release Date
The new iOS emojis have been approved by Unicode, and will roll out with iOS 12. The public beta of the mobile operating system is now available to download for users who want to try it out. There is still no specific iOS 12 release date, though it is expected to launch alongside this year's new iPhone models.
Will Apple again roll out an emoji that crashes iPhones? Will there be an emoji that will trigger a worldwide debate? That remains to be seen, though the wait will only take a couple of months.
