Amazon Prime Day 2018 Leak Tips Big Sales On July 16: More Deals Than Black Friday?

Each year, Amazon hosts a mid-summer deals event with heavy discounts on a slew of items, and this year's Prime Day is just around the corner.

Amazon Prime Day is one of the biggest shopping events of the year for the online retailer, as it offers more and often better deals than Black Friday. Customers flock to buy discounted devices and all sorts of items, and the big sale is rapidly approaching.

Amazon Prime Day 2018 Date

While Amazon has not made any formal announcement yet, TechRadar stumbled upon a banner that seems to have been published by accident on the company's UK page. The banner touted July 16 as the start date for Amazon Prime Day, but it has since been taken down, and now it just states "coming soon."

Amazon refused to comment on the matter, saying only that it promised last year that Prime Day will come back for another round in 2018, but it has no further details to share on this point.

Amazon Prime Day 2018: What To Expect

Prime Day is a shopping bonanza with heavy discounts on a slew of products, allowing Prime members to make significant savings. The sale lasted for 30 hours last year, and it's expected to go up to 36 hours this year.

Amazon typically cuts the price on various Echo, Fire, and Kindle products, as well as a slew of other items such as PC components, gaming hardware, accessories, and more.

For several years now, Amazon has discounted smartphones, tablets, e-readers, TVs, smart speakers, and a slew of other devices, with its Prime Day serving as a sort of Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale exclusively for Amazon Prime subscribers.

More such deals are expected this year, especially since the sale will last for longer this time around. Amazon should not only offer more deals than on Black Friday but also some heftier discounts.

Amazon Prime Members Exclusive

On the downside, regular shoppers who are not subscribed to Amazon Prime will not be able to take advantage of the special Prime Day prices. Amazon Prime memberships cost $12.99 per month or $199 per year and include several perks and benefits.

In addition to being able to take advantage of sweet Prime Day deals, Amazon Prime members also get free two-day delivery on millions of products as well as access to Amazon Prime Video and other perks.

The July 16 date for the Prime Day 2018 sale is not set in stone just yet since Amazon has yet to confirm it, but the company is expected to make an official announcement soon enough.
