Amazon Teams Up With Marriott To Bring Alexa To Hotels

Amazon announced a new service that will ease travelers' minds. They will be helping hotel guests get comfortable at an established hotel chain.

When Amazon Met Marriott

The electronic commerce company made news on June 19, when it announced that it would be partnering with Marriott International. The alliance between Amazon and the hotel chain is expected to be the cornerstone of Amazon's new service for hotels, Alexa for Hospitality. Alexa for Hospitality is supposed to help the guests have a better experience at their hotels.

Amazon will send Amazon Echo to different Marriott hotels across the country. When guests walk into their room, they will find the Amazon Echo sitting near the bed. The Amazon Echo will be equipped with the company's digital assistant, Alexa. Alexa comes with several pre-programmed services that will allow guests to have enhanced hotel experience.

Alexa The Hotel Employee

Some of the assistance that Alexa will provide the guests is to act as a go-between with the hotel's housekeeping and room services. It would also help guests contact the concierge for meal recommendations. Guests can also ask Alexa about the facilities' fitness center locations and business center's hours.

"Amazon has been working with Marriott to fine tune the Alexa for Hospitality experience for Marriott properties and we're excited to be deploying Alexa for Hospitality in select Marriott properties this summer," said an Amazon spokesperson exclusively to Tech Times.

Guests can also access Alexa to control their room environment. In addition to having the ability to play music from iHeartRadio and turn on their smart televisions, guests can use Alexa to adjust the blinds and room temperatures. Other members of the Marriott family that are expected to have Alexa for Hospitality installed into their hotels include Westin Hotels, the Autograph Collection Hotels, and Aloft Hotels.

Alexa will be programmed to speak French and help give its customer an authentic Amazon experience. It is expected that Amazon France will start sending Echo Spot products to customers in July.
