Huawei's upcoming Mate 20 Pro Android powerhouse could come with a 6.9-inch AMOLED display from Samsung, according to the latest leak.
In an increasingly competitive smartphone market, Huawei has made a notable headway and continues to grow in popularity, aiming to become the world's top smartphone maker.
Its latest Android devices have seen good reception and its partnership with Leica for high-end smartphone cameras further boosted its appeal. However, the much-hyped Huawei Mate 20 Pro might be its best smartphone yet.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro 6.9-inch AMOLED Display
Korean publication The Bell reports (translated) that Huawei just placed an order for 6.9-inch AMOLED panels from Samsung Display, aiming to use them in an upcoming smartphone. That handset is likely none other than the highly anticipated Mate 20 Pro.
The Bell claims that Samsung has already started shipping various samples to Huawei and if all goes right, it could kick off full-scale production sometime in the third quarter of this year.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro Release Rumors
If this timeline works out, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro could be ready to make its formal debut as soon as the fourth quarter of this year, albeit the possibility of a later release in the first quarter of 2019 cannot be excluded at this point.
Considering that such panels are not exactly cheap, it would make sense for Huawei to equip a powerful flagship with this display. That's why the rumored Huawei Mate 20 Pro seems to be the most likely candidate, especially since the Huawei P line is seen as more accessible.
Huawei is expected to announce its Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro sometime in October, but it remains to be seen when they will actually go on sale. Huawei's previous Mate and Mate Pro offerings further bolster the claim that the Mate 20 Pro will be the one to feature the massive AMOLED panel. The panel will be flat, not curved. The Huawei Mate 20, meanwhile, is expected to have a 6.1-inch screen or larger, similar to the P20 Pro.
If the Huawei Mate 20 Pro does indeed launch with a huge 6.9-inch display, it will be larger than the rumored Galaxy Note 9 and Apple's future plus-size iPhone.
No official information is given at this point, however, so all available details for the purported Huawei Mate 20 Pro are based solely on leaks, rumors, and speculation. As such, it's best to treat all reports with a grain of salt for now.
