Ubisoft introduces its AI-powered assistant Sam to the world. The program is similar to Siri or Cortana, only it is for gamers.
Ubisoft's AI Chatbot Can Answer Questions
Ubisoft was previously testing it in Canada, and now, it is available to assist gamers around the globe. The assistant is still in its beta stage in English, but the developer said that it will continue evolving over time.
The personal gaming assistant is embedded in the Ubisoft Club mobile app. Users can ask it for gaming tips, news, and personalized information, such as the length of time they have been playing a specific game.
Sam uses Google Cloud's Dialog flow solution to interpret the players' queries and provide the best answer possible. Its knowledge database has since grown 10 times after answering about 400,000 questions.
So far, the AI chatbot has understood 88 percent of the requests, which includes questions and commands, as well as acronyms of the video game titles. Sam will understand commands like "show the BGE2 trailer," realizing that it pertains to the trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2
What Else Can Sam The Gaming Assistant Do
Sam can do more than answering questions. It also pushes information to the players based on their habits.
"It can provide special insights on your games by analyzing your gaming patterns, favorite gear, strengths, and weaknesses," said Ubisoft.
Starting with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, the bot will share tips tailored to the players' game stats or struggles, such as when they are having trouble with a new Operator, for example. Sam has now shared over 750,000 videos, tips, and tricks to help the players of the tactical shooter title.
For now, however, Sam is integrated only with Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft hopes to integrate more games in the future, although, players can still ask basic questions about other games.
Ubisoft also shared other facts about Sam, one being that he is a rather shy bot. According to the company, an emoji kiss sent to the program sent him away from the keyboard for 10 minutes. The AI assistant also added 250 new words in its Gaming Lexicon, such as "GG" and "noob."
To use Sam, players must press a button to activate it first before it can take questions or requests. The AI assistant will still grow with the community through questions, voting on content, and feedback.
The Ubisoft Club app is available for Android and iOS devices.
