The producers of Daredevil have released new images of the upcoming Netflix exclusive TV show. The showrunners are continuing their quest to separate the show from the terrible Ben Affleck movie.
They claim the TV show is the exact opposite of the film, and that should be seen as a great thing. The film, while having some great moments, was a letdown and fans made sure to let their voices be heard. However, that wasn't enough since a just-as-terrible Elektra movie was released after.
Marvel also made it clear that Daredevil will be a TV show that is down to earth, so fans of Marvel's connected universe should not expect to see flying hammers or folks with the ability to heal themselves in a matter of seconds. From what we can tell, Daredevil is taking a similar approach to Arrow, but if that is the case, then we hope the fighting choreography is better.
"There aren't going to be people flying through the sky; there are no magic hammers," says Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb. "We've always approached this as a crime drama first, superhero show second." There's also more grown-up content here. "It's a little grittier and edgier than Marvel has gone before," says DeKnight, best known for the ultra-hardcore Starz series Spartacus, adding, "but we're not looking to push it to extreme violence or gratuitous nudity."
Let's be honest here, the fighting in Arrow seems too unreal and to think Stephen Amell was hoping the show would win an award for the best fight choreography on TV.
We are dying to see what comes of Daredevil since it could turn out to be the first time Marvel Studio ventures down the path of grittiness and gore. The likes of Agents of SHIELD and the many movies have been very lighthearted, and some fans were hoping for a bit of a change.
Apart from Daredevil, Marvel is also working on a TV series that centers on the life of Agent Carter. For those who have no idea who Agent Carter is, let's break it down.
Agent Carter's real name is Peggy Carter, the same character from the first Captain America movie. She is the woman who Steve Rogers fell in love with, and she is also a bad-ass. We understand the TV show will take place in 1946, which is after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger.
Naturally, Peggy believed Steve Rogers is dead, and we hope to see how she coped during her time without him around. It probably won't be easy, and that might be something that could lead to deeper things.
