The promised Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game is now available for Android and iOS, ready to immerse users into the magical world of Hogwarts.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery comes as a free-to-play role-playing game, or RPG for short, albeit it does support in-app purchases. It's the work of L.A.-based Jam City mobile games studio in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
The release for Android and iOS follows the announcement from early March when a trailer started sparking excitement and pre-registrations opened up for the game.
'Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery' Storyline
In Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, players go on their own adventure at the magical school of Hogwarts, experiencing life as a student there. Users get to create their own character -- a witch or a wizard -- and customize their avatar by choosing from various options for face, eyes, and lips shape, hair color, eyebrows shape, and such. More customization options will become available as players progress in the game.
In this game, players explore life as a wizardry student years before Harry Potter, the boy who lived, even received his letter from Hogwarts. They can roam around various rooms within Hogwarts Castle -- including rooms never seen before, learn magic spells, investigate mysteries, and gain valuable knowledge from Professor Snape, Dumbledore, and others.
Players can also team up with friends, challenge their rivals, and level up for more excitement. To make the whole experience more immersive, the game features voiceover from the actors who played the characters in the Harry Potter series of movies.
'Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery' Game Features
The game comes with a slew of features to spice up the adventure, including potions and magic spells. Players have to attend various classes to learn and perfect their spells, potions, and other magical skills, and as they progress, they can unlock more advanced spells and potions, as well as new locations and characters.
For the mystery part, players will have to use their skills to investigate various mysteries at the magical school, and find the truth about their brother's disappearance and the Cursed Vaults.
The House Cup is also up for grabs, just like in the Harry Potter series, and players will have to bond with others in their house in order to win.
