Destiny 2 Warmind DLC Is Taking Players Back To Mars

Destiny 2 Warmind DLC is sending players on a mission to Mars in an area that is not currently accessible in the base game.

A new teaser video highlights the Mars Hellas Basin location, along with the Hive Escalation Protocol, and the upgraded exotics and crucible updates coming with the Warmind expansion. All three sections will be touched upon on the big reveal via a livestream on Twitch.

"Join developers from Bungie and Vicarious Visions for the reveal of Warmind, the second expansion to Destiny 2," the studio invites fans.

Mars Teased In New 'Destiny 2' Warmind DLC Video

The teaser shows some areas on Mars, including the sand dunes, underground caverns, and a base. Unfortunately, these are infested by the Hive.

To fend off these enemies, players can take advantage of the updated Exotic weapons. So far, Warmind is confirmed to be bringing new versions of the Skyburner's Oath, the Graviton Lance, the Rat King, and the SUROS Regime.

The video also teases a new Exotic weapon in the form of a staff. The presumed melee weapon is shown off toward the end, blasting enemies with a shock wave as the Hunter struck the ground.

More information will be revealed during the livestream event on April 24 at 10 a.m. PT or 1 p.m. ET on Bungie's Twitch account. The Destiny 2: Warmind expansion will be released on May 8.

Warmind Launches Alongside Season 3

Along with the launch of the Destiny 2: Warmind is the beginning of season 3, which will see the release of the maps from both DLCs: Warmind and Curse of Osiris. These two will be available to everyone but first, the player must purchase the corresponding expansion to use its map in private matches.

"To keep the community in the Crucible unified, everyone will see new arenas in matchmade playlists like Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, as well as the new weekly rotators that include Rumble and Mayhem," Bungie said in an announcement.

The development roadmap also revealed the 1.20 update that will bring an increase in vault space and some changes in the Exotic weapon sandbox. The multi-emote, seasonal vendor progression, heroic strike modifiers, and nightfall challenge cards are also coming on May 8.

Season 3 will also introduce a new seasonal event on an unannounced date in summer alongside bounties and PC clan chat. Improvements on faction rallies and changes to the Exotic armor sandbox were mentioned as well.

Destiny 2 is available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
