It seems that I might still be a while before the guided missile comes back in Fortnite Battle Royale as game developer Epic Games prolongs its eventual return.
Last week, players had been surprised when update version 3.5 arrived on all platforms. The game studio informed everyone through Twitter that it temporarily had removed the user-controlled rocket launcher to work on some issues with its animation.
Yet, strangely enough, it was not specified exactly what problems the weapon had caused. Some players speculated that it might be permanent due to its overpowered (OP) nature.
It Is Out Indefinitely
According to the development team, the feedback from the gamers regarding the weapon suggests that it is too powerful. Hence, the patch version 3.5 was slated to make adjustments to nerf some of its perks. Yet, instead of its intended effects, the update allegedly affected the projectile's animation that prompted the game studio to temporarily take it offline.
Currently, there is no word from the game studio if its removal will be permanent, however, some sources claim that it might want to keep it that way.
A Word Form The Game Developer
The Fortnite Battle Royale team wasted no time to communicate its decision to their fans and posted an explanation on Reddit. The message confirmed that the disabled firearm will stay that way until the game developers come up with a fix and address the complaints about it being a little too overpowered.
"We've gotten a lot of feedback around the Guided Missile, in particular, concerns over fairness and strength of the weapon. We share your concerns, so we've put the Guided Missile into the vault while we figure out the next steps for its future," wrote Epic Games on its Reddit post.
Taking Care Of Other Issues
It looks like the intention to fix other problems in Fortnite Battle Royale resulted in the creation of other issues. Epic Games confirmed that hotfixes are on their way to hopefully fix gameplay bugs that ruin the experience.
One of those issues reportedly concerns the peeking mechanic being affected. Instead of shooting bullets over the wall when the character is positioned over the structure, the projectiles hit the wall instead.
The game studio noted that it had cropped up as a side effect of other game world changes. Luckily, according to the development team, it is something that will be addressed quickly once the next patch will have been rolled back.
Another issue that is being hotly debated by players of the shooter is regarding the weapon swap delay. It remains confirmed at the moment if the planned software rollback will bring back the older settings, but it seems likely that tweaks made for shotguns, in particular, is here to stay.
