The long-awaited Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch will feature brand-new eighth-generation Pokémon, apparently according to Nintendo itself.
Ever since the Nintendo Switch was announced, gamers have been waiting for the Pokémon franchise to arrive to the hybrid console. Will the Nintendo Switch Pokémon RPG finally be unveiled soon?
'Pokémon' For Nintendo Switch Will Launch 8th-Generation Pokémon
An image of the Spanish edition of the Official Nintendo Magazine, as uploaded by Twitter user @raqeuruu, reveals an interesting tidbit about the upcoming Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch.
Translated, the Pokémon section reveals that the upcoming Nintendo Switch entry of the franchise will feature the brand-new eighth-generation Pokémon. This likewise suggests that the game will feature a new region to explore, where the new Pokémon will be discovered.
The magazine also claims that the upcoming Pokémon game will also feature new mechanics. It remains unclear what this refers to, but speculations include an open-world environment and a new system of developing bonds with Pokémon.
However, it should be noted that while the information comes from an official Nintendo source, the magazine has previously made mistakes on future Pokémon titles. This means that all this information should be taken with a pinch of salt until Nintendo or The Pokémon Company make an official announcement regarding the Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch.
When Will The New 'Pokémon' Game Be Released?
According to NPD analyst Mat Piscatella, the demand for the already-popular Nintendo Switch will further increase once a Pokémon game was released for the hybrid console. Considering the massive popularity of the franchise, it will be hard to argue with that.
Rumors have been swirling around what the Nintendo Switch Pokémon RPG will offer, including a region said to be inspired by Italy or Spain, the return of Z-Moves, and the introduction of a simplified combat system similar to Digimon World games.
As for the new Pokémon game release date, there is no confirmation yet. However, a job listing by The Pokémon Company for a localization editor resulted in speculation that the title will be released within this year's fourth quarter, just in time for the holidays.
Nintendo, however, might take a while before it shifts its focus on the Pokémon RPG, if it is indeed going to be released this year. This is because it will be busy driving up the hype for Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Switch.
