Blizzard just announced the launch of Hearthstone's newest expansion, The Witchwood, on April 12, which will see the addition of 135 new cards.
Hearthstone: The Witchwood Cards To Be Revealed Before Release
Some of the Hearthstone: The Witchwood's cards have already been revealed, including the minions Pumpkin Peasant, Phantom Militia, and Militia Commander. Three legendary minions have also been confirmed to be arriving: Genn Greymane, Baku the Mooneater, and Azalina Soulthief.
The full roster of The Witchwood cards will be unveiled on April 9. Game Director Ben Brode will join Hearthstone streamer Sea "Day[9]" Plott to showcase all the other remaining cards in a live stream at 11 a.m. PT on Twitch.
The expansion will also introduce a new mode called Monster Hunter. The new Hearthstone mode will have players choose from four specific heroes who will join them in venturing Witchwood. Players will have to beat eight battles that will become increasingly difficult after every brawl, but they will be able to upgrade their decks in between.
"Foolhardy travelers who dare venture beyond the city walls after nightfall disappear into the wilderness, never to return," Blizzard said in an announcement.
"The Witchwood is safe for none to tread!"
Hearthstone: The Witchwood is now available for pre-purchase at $50, which includes a special 50-card pack bundle. There is also a bonus 20 The Witchwood card packs plus the In a Dark Wood card back. Players might only have until April 9 to get this deal. After which, the card packs will be available at their normal prices.
Year Of The Raven Starts With Hearthstone: The Witchwood
Hearthstone: The Witchwood's arrival kicks off the Year of the Raven, which rotates sets that are older than two years into the Wild format. This also retires the sets Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, One Night in Karazhan, and Whispers of the Old Gods out of Standard play.
Joining these sets are cards from this year's Hall of Fame, which picks out cards from the Classic Sets and pulls them out of the Standard format. For the Year of the Raven, these cards are Ice Block, Coldlight Oracle, and Molten Giant.
Year of the Raven will also introduce a new druid hero, Cenarius' daughter. Lunara will be available to players upon the release of The Witchwood and after winning 10 games in Standard.
After Hearthstone: The Witchwood, this year also holds two other expansions. More information about the remaining expansions are not yet available.
