Microsoft sold 3 mn Xbox One consoles worldwide since launch

For a console that is $100 more expensive than the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One is surely proving to be a hit among consumers. Microsoft announced that it has sold over 3 million Xbox One consoles to consumers since the game console launched back in November. This should be seen as impressive, as the Xbox One is only available in 13 markets, while the PlayStation 4 is available in 31 markets worldwide.

Xbox head of marketing, Yusef Mehdi, posted the numbers on the company's Xbox Wire website. Mehdi went on to claim the Xbox One as the fastest selling console in November, which seems to give the idea that the Sony PlayStation 4 performed better in December.

"It's been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November", Mehdi said. "Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible."

He continued by saying fan reaction was mind blowing during the month of November for the marketing team. He also said the team is inspired and willing to perform to the fullest for the fans.

Microsoft earlier announced that 2.1 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in the first 18 days of availability. Half of this number came in the first 24 hours of market launch, which is proof enough that gamers have found some interest in Microsoft's new video game console.

The numbers should increase beginning next month as several games go on sale. Some of the titles coming to Xbox One includes "Titanfall," "Watch Dogs," "Project Spark," "Sunset Overdrive," "Tom Clancy's The Division," "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," "Destiny," "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare," and "The Elder Scrolls Online," among others.
