Hot on the heels of the announcement of its new iPad, Apple has confirmed that T-Mobile will also get the new device when it comes out.
This news shortly follows as the tech industry waited for the Cupertino tech firm to reveal its new tablet this week.
The updated slate boasts compatibility with the Apple Pencil that was previously made available only for the iPad Pro lineup. Other than its upgraded hardware, the company claims that the 2018 model will be better equipped for augmented reality applications.
Competing With Google
Earlier this week, Google took one step ahead of Apple as it announced its first ever Chrome OS tablet. The device, manufactured by Acer, is called the Chromebook Tab 10.
According to sources, the search company intends to market the tablets for the education market. One of its key features is the integrated stylus with WACOM EMR technology for accuracy. The internal storage size is 32 GB, with an optional microSD card slot for expansion.
Industry insiders noted that the new iOS slate will be likewise marketed for the education sector. However, the price and features of the device offered by the competitor are hardly something to scoff about.
Upgraded Hardware And Carrier Availability
The 2018 9.7-inch iPad flaunts a new chipset called the A10 Fusion, supposedly delivering up to 40 percent more speed and a 50 percent bump in graphics capabilities. Overall, users should notice better multitasking with improved performance.
The 9.7-inch touch-screen device sports a 2048 x 1536 display resolution. The Storage options available are 32 GB and 128 GB variants.
Battery life is rated up to 10 hours on a single charge. Its imaging department is handled by an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera as its main shooter, while a FaceTime HD camera graces the front of the device.
Verizon almost immediately confirmed that it will offer the new tablet and was followed by a Tweet from John Legere, T-Mobile CEO. Sources reported that the device is called 6th gen iPad.
Pricing Details
Apple listed the official retail prices for the Wi-Fi only and factory-unlocked LTE variants. The Wi-Fi only variant with 32 GB is priced at $329 but for schools, it is discounted to $299. The 128 GB option, on the other hand, is priced at $429.
The Wi-Fi + Cellular models are available in 32 GB and 129 GB and cost $459 and $559 respectively. It seems that the 32 GB Wi-Fi version is the only one with educational pricing.
T-Mobile is speculated to reveal its pricing details soon.
