The year 2013 is coming to a close, so before that happens, we want to share what we believe to be the best tablets of 2013.
iPad mini With Retina Display:
Apple did a great job with the new iPad mini by adding a high resolution display that rivals the iPad Air, a faster A7 processor, and improved Wi-Fi and LTE data connectivity. Furthermore, the Retina iPad mini comes with exceptional battery life that we've come to expect from Apple mobile devices. The only downside to the tablet is its starting price of $399 and the missing Touch ID support found on the iPhone 5s. Apart from those things, it's an impressive device that should be considered when purchasing a tablet.
iPad Air:
Arguably the best tablet out on the market right now,. The iPad Air is very thin and only weighs in at 1 pound. With the amount of hardware improvements inside the device, one would have expected it to be heavier than it is, but that's not the case. Furthermore, the iPad Air has the most powerful GPU among all tablets, so gaming on the go should be a breeze without many hiccups. The Bad? Well, we're disappointed that Apple failed to include Touch ID. Hopefully it will find its way on future tablets.
Google Nexus 7:
Arguably the best Android tablet available on the market today. The Nexus 7 has a super sharp full HD display and superb battery life at the affordable price of $229. The downside? It doesn't come with a microSD card slot, and Android 4.3 has little to no improvements that are useful to the end user in any meaningful way.
Surface Pro 2:
Microsoft's first attempt at creating its own tablet line was a disaster and the software giant lost over $900 million. However, the company made amends and bounced back with the launch of the Surface Pro 2 a year later, and the device looks quite astonishing. It is probably the best of what Windows 8.1 Pro has to offer in terms of hardware design and performance, and we're excited to see what Microsoft plans next for the Surface Pro 3.
Nokia 2520:
This is Nokia's very first tablet and in many ways, it might be the best Windows 8.1 RT tablet out there. Not only is the performance better than the Microsoft Surface 2, but Nokia went ahead and added extra value by incorporating its own apps. These apps can only be found on Nokia tablet devices, which isn't surprising since Nokia does the same thing with its Lumia line of Windows Phone 8 handsets. We also like the design and the kickstand, which seems to be a lot better than the kickstand for the Surface 2 tablets from Microsoft.
That's our list of top 5 tablets of 2013. If you're not in agreement, be sure to share with us your own list.
