Toyota's 2019 Corolla Hatchback model will feature Apple CarPlay and even come with Amazon Alexa built in. The move comes as a drastic departure from the automaker's principles, which has famously abstained from adapting third-party infotainment systems.
Apple CarPlay And Amazon Alexa
Toyota typically likes to use its own in-house infotainment systems for its cars, but it seems the company has softened around such policies. Thus, CarPlay and Alexa will now be standard features in the brand-new Corolla. It's worth mentioning, however, that Google's Android Auto platform isn't included, and Toyota has yet to confirm whether it plans to include support for it in the future.
The new Corolla is powered by the company's Entune 3.0 infotainment system, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen, support for eyes-free Siri, AUX, USB 2.0, and the ability to answer hands-free phone calls. Of course, music playback via Bluetooth is also possible. Surprisingly, the car also gets a specialized Qi-based wireless charging tray for compatible iPhones.
The new model is also the first to use the company's latest Toyota Safety Sense, a safety technology software that is able to detect pedestrians, brake in case of emergencies, cruise-control via radar, trace lanes, and assist with steering.
2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Price
Toyota has yet to provide information on pricing for the new Corolla Hatchback, but the vehicle is poised to go on sale in North America this summer. Just for perspective, the 2018 Corolla iM starts at $18,850, and there's reason to believe that the new model will be priced higher than that, especially since automakers have the habit of gradually increasing vehicle price points over time. However, it likely won't cost beyond $20,000.
