Microsoft just confirmed that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available for its Xbox Game Pass service next month, according to Larry Hryb's tweet.
The Xbox Live director posted the announcement on Twitter to inform subscribers about the March lineup of games. At first glance, it seems easy to miss that one of the games in the photo was arranged differently from the others. Among the stacked cases that had their titles hidden away from the camera, only the topmost revealed its title, which is apparently the sequel to Square Enix's reboot of the series.
Monthly Offerings
Subscribers know that new titles are typically added at the start of each month for the Netflix-inspired service. Just recently, Microsoft revealed that it made changes to how the game service works. The company revealed that they will add first-party developed titles on the same day that it launches for the system to encourage gamers to invest in an Xbox One or One X.
A Timed-Exclusive
Rise of the Tomb Raider is definitely a great game to include in the March lineup for Xbox Game Pass. However, its availability on PlayStation 4 hardly makes it a worthwhile title to encourage buyers to grab an Xbox One X instead.
The Square Enix game launched back in 2015 as an Xbox One exclusive, but it was eventually released for the Sony console. It follows Lara Croft's quest to uncover clues about immorality and picks up where the first game ended. The PS4 version soon followed a little over a year after its initial debut on the Microsoft's platform.
Other sources likewise pointed out that the company might have decided to include the sequel next month to coincide the release date of the movie. The live-action adaptation stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft
Other Games
Looking at the Xbox Game Pass photo posted on Twitter, there are seven more games that have yet to be announced. It appears definite that Sea of Thieves will be one of the included titles since it's a first-party developed game by Rare. Moreover, the open-sea adventure game is due to launch on March 20, which undeniably makes it a part of the lineup for next month.
Xbox One Promotions
Microsoft is aggressively marketing the Xbox One and One X by throwing in great titles for the following month. Gamers with plans to grab a new console from the Redmond-based company sometime soon are in for a treat. Currently, there is a special bundle that gives out a free copy of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds for every console bought from February 18 to March 4 only.
With a subscription to Xbox Game Pass, users can also get the Rise of the Tomb Raider and Sea of Thieves, which looks like an amazing deal.
