Days before unveiling the new Galaxy S9 flagship, Samsung sweetens the deal for Galaxy S8 and Note 8 with a free pair of Gear IconX earbuds.
The new-generation Samsung Galaxy S9 is about to make its debut later this week at the Samsung Unpacked event on Feb. 25, one day before the Mobile World Congress 2018 officially kicks off. As hype is building up, most of the attention has gone to the upcoming flagship, but this new deal boosts the appeal of existing Samsung Galaxy flagships.
For those who don't necessarily have to have the latest flagship phone, the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 are highly capable devices that will continue to be available even after the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ hit the scene.
Samsung Gear IconX Wireless Earbuds
The Gear IconX, meanwhile, are wireless earbuds that connect to smartphones and other gadgets via Bluetooth. The accessory has a microphone for voice calls and voice commands and it features a portable charging case, just like Apple's AirPods. Gear IconX's design puts fitness in mind and they normally retail for $199.99.
The earbuds further come with 4 GB of native storage space, allowing users to store up to 1,000 songs without having to rely on their smartphone or another device.
In terms of design, the Gear IconX earbuds are quite discreet and comfortable, completely wireless, and without the elongated profile of Apple's AirPods. Samsung also included multiple ear-tips and wing-tips sizes in the Gear IconX box, so the earbuds fit well in the ear.

For a limited time, the Gear IconX wireless earbuds are bundled for free with any purchase of Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, or Galaxy Note 8. Samsung notes that this is just a limited-time offer, as it is set to expire at the end of this month.
Since the promo allows for significant savings of $199.99, interested customers might want to take advantage of it while it still lasts. The deal is valid until March 1 for both unlocked and carrier-specific versions of the three smartphones.
To get a free pair of Gear IconX earbuds, customers have to purchase a Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, or Galaxy Note 8 either from Samsung's website or via the Shop Samsung app.
The Gear IconX earbuds are compatible with both Android and iOS, so they can basically be paired with most smartphones currently available on the market.
