Monster Hunter: World players can now unlock a special armor set to transform their character into Ryu, the iconic face of the Street Fighter franchise.
The crossover between the two Capcom series was first announced last month, but the specific details on how to acquire the Ryu armor set have just been revealed.
How To Play As Ryu In 'Monster Hunter: World'
In January, Capcom announced Ryu and Sakura of the Street Fighter franchise as the newest hunters in Monster Hunter: World. Gamers can play as either of the two characters by equipping special armor sets. The first ones that can acquire the Ryu armor set are PlayStation 4 owners with a save file of Street Fighter V or Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition in their consoles.
Unlocking the Ryu armor set requires players to complete the Down the Dark, Muddy Path quest that can be found at the Arena Quest Board in the game's Gathering Hub. The quest, which is now available for PlayStation 4 owners with a save file of Street Fighter V or Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, requires players to have a Hunter Rank of 3 or better.
The quest also limits loadouts to the Greatsword, Hammer, Heavy Bowgun, Gunlance, and Dual Blades. This is good for players who have mastered at least one of these weapons but bad for those who have not tried them.
The objective of the quest is to take down a Barroth, and once it is completed, players will receive a Street Fighter V ticket. However, seven of these tickets are needed for a complete Ryu armor set, and all pieces of the set need to be equipped to transform hunters into the Street Fighter character.
Once players have acquired seven Street Fighter V tickets, they can visit the Smithy to craft the Ryu armor set. Players who really want to play Monster Hunter: World as Ryu, however, will need to farm the tickets quickly, as the Down the Dark, Muddy Path quest will only be available until March 1.
For the other PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners, the Down the Dark, Muddy Path quest should be available soon, but no specific date is confirmed as of yet.
Other Unlockable Armor Sets In 'Monster Hunter: World'
After March 1, another quest will be released to unlock the Sakura armor set, the details of which will follow.
Moreover, PlayStation 4 owners will soon be able to acquire an exclusive armor set that will transform their hunter into Aloy of Horizon Zero Dawn. The quest will be available on the PlayStation 4 from Feb. 25 to March 3.
In the future, players will also be able to equip their Palico companions with a special armor set to transform them into Mega Man, complete with a Mega Buster to shoot at monsters.
